The month of March brings baseball back and I was thinking about my favorite baseball movies. First would be For Love of The Game and then Field of Dreams, both with Kevin Costner. Then Major League followed by Eight Men Out.
Next would be Pride of The Yankees with Gary Cooper playing Lou Gehrig. This came out in 1942. About a year after Gehrig’s Death. Two Yankees play themselves – Babe Ruth, who would pass away 6 years later and Bill Dickey. The woman who plays Gehrig’s wife is two-tie Academy Award winner Teresa Wright. You may have seen her as Miss Birdie in 1997’s The Rainmaker starring a young Matt Damon. She passed away in 2005 and was laid to rest in New Haven, Connecticut. Well that’s it for now.
